- Project entitled Molecular Biotechnology for Health receives funding of nearly PLN 29 M from the EU Innovative Economy Operational Programme. As part of the project, five specialist laboratories were created at the FBBB during the period from 2008 to 2012: the Laboratory of Image Analysis, the Laboratory of Transcriptomics and Proteomics, the Laboratory of Cell and Tissue Engineering, the Laboratory of Viral Molecular Diagnostics, the Laboratory of Plant Biotechnology, as well as the Cell Bank and Animal Facility

- At the inauguration ceremony for the 651st academic year of the JU, Professor Wojciech Froncisz receives an honorary Plus Ratio Quam Vis medal. This commemorative medal is awarded to persons distinguished for eminent services to the Jagiellonian University

- Five-year study programme in biophysics is replaced by a three-year Bachelor's degree in molecular and cell biophysics

Currently, the FBBB consists of 17 Department and Faculty Laboratories. Nearly 50 independent members of academic staff work at the Faculty – 20 full professors and 29 associate professors (dr. hab.). In total, there are 250 members of staff. Around 200 scientific articles are published every year.
